Q: Is MySmartWindows compatible with my window?

A: Please reference the provided Vertical and Horizontal images in the compatibility tab above to determine which style window you have and which dimension on your window you will need to measure to determine compatibility.

MySmartWindows includesTrack to allow your window to open 24". For extra length of travel, add more Track to your installation (Sold Separately).

IMPORTANT: For MySmartWindows to operate as advertised, your window must properly function and be able to be moved by the average adult using one hand.

Q: Can I use my Android phone to control the product?

A: MySmartWindows is setup and controlled in the free SmarterHome Windows app, which is available for both iOS and Android devices.

Q: Where are the installation instructions?

A: The instructions for MySmartWindows can be found in the SmarterHome Windows App > Home Tab > Settings > Installation Instructions.

Q: The track is too long for my window, what should I do?

A1: Start placing the track at the end of the window, and then work your way toward the middle where the sliding windowpane starts.

A2: Trimming the track is an option but be cautious when doing so and wear the proper safety equipment. Use heavy-duty scissors or diagonal cutters.

Q: Two pieces of track on each side is not enough to open my entire window, what should I do?

A: You may purchase additional track on our website for windows that are larger than average to allow your window to travel further.

Q: What should I use to cover up the hole that is left when I remove the traditional lock?

A: For most windows, when the locks are removed, small screw holes left behind will be covered by MySmartWindows after installation. For some locks that are attached to the front of the window and removed for this installation, some matching caulking can be used to fill the hole left behind when the lock is removed.

Q: I can’t get my Arms/Extension Arms to go back onto the body, what should I do?

A: Line up the metal hex shaft coming out of the body, and the metal tube in the Arm/Extension, and rotate the drive wheel at the end of the Arm slightly to help engage the rods.

Q: I can’t get MySmartWindows to engage with the track, what should I do?

A: Confirm MySmartWindows is unlocked by checking that the manual lock switch shows unlocked. Then, while holding the arm and pushing it slightly towards the Track, move the arm forward and back as well as your window open and closed slightly to fully engage the drive wheel with the Track.

Q: How do I lock my window now?

A: With MySmartWindows installed, your window is now ALWAYS secure.Your MySmartWindows is equipped with a Smart Window Lock that can be used to manually open the window like normal, but will automatically lock after a few seconds of inactivity to ensure security whether your window is open or closed. Be sure to have your MySmartWindows powered on for automatic locking to function.

Q: My MySmartWindows is beeping 3 times when it tries to move and then stops, what should I do?

A1: Once your MySmartWindows is properly calibrated and setup in the SmarterHome App, it will monitor the resistance of the window as it moves and can detect slight changes in resistance from normal operation. If it detects there is any obstruction, it will stop immediately, back off a few inches, beep 3 times, and wait for confirmation that the window is again clear. Press a button or control it on the app to clear this notification and return to normal use.

A2: If this issue persists and there are no obstructions in the window, please recalibrate your MySmartWindows in the SmarterHome Windows app through the device details for that particular MySmartWindows device.

Q: My MySmartWindows is not moving when I push the buttons or try and control it in the app, what should I do?

A1: If the MySmartWindows has been calibrated and setup in the past through the SmarterHome Windows app, then confirm that the Solar Panel on the back is not obstructed in any way, and if needed, is adjusted away from the center of the window as window trim could be blocking it.
If the Solar Panel appears to be okay and there is not any obstructions in front of the unit outside, please charge the unit with a Micro USB cable for a few hours and try again. The battery could have arrived with a low charge.

Q: I am having trouble manually unlocking/locking my Window with the lock switch, what should I do?

A: Confirm the sliding window pane is not pinched in either direction, then try to unlock/lock MySmartWindows again.
